Job Description

Ridgecrest Regional Hospital invites a highly motivated and experienced Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to take on a leadership role as Program Director for our comprehensive wound care services. This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead a vital program within a DNV-accredited community hospital, blending clinical excellence with strategic program development. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in establishing best practices, enhancing patient outcomes, and fostering a collaborative environment for complex wound management.

As Program Director, you will provide direct patient care, specializing in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of acute and chronic wounds. This role extends beyond clinical duties to encompass program oversight, quality improvement initiatives, and educational leadership for staff and patients. You will serve a diverse patient population, including those with challenging wounds often associated with critical illness, diabetes, vascular disease, and pressure injuries, ensuring the highest standards of care in a hospital-employed setting.

Patient Care & Treatment

  • Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including etiology, staging, and measurement.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing advanced wound care modalities, debridement techniques, and specialized dressings.

  • Perform minor procedures related to wound care, such as sharp debridement and biopsy.

  • Provide patient and family education on wound care, prevention strategies, and lifestyle modifications.

  • Collaborate with surgical teams, critical care providers, and other specialists to manage complex or non-healing wounds.

  • Monitor treatment efficacy, adjust care plans as needed, and meticulously document all aspects of wound care.

Collaborative Teamwork

  • Lead and mentor a dedicated team of healthcare professionals focused on wound care excellence.

  • Foster strong interdisciplinary relationships with surgeons, primary care physicians, critical care staff, physical therapists, dietitians, and social workers to ensure holistic patient management.

  • Participate in regular multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences to optimize patient outcomes.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of hospital-wide protocols and guidelines for wound prevention and treatment.

Qualifications

  • Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the State of California (or eligible for licensure).

  • Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.

  • Extensive clinical experience in wound care management, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.

  • Strong understanding of evidence-based wound care practices and program development principles.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
